2021, Book 4: The Cleanest Race, B.R. Myers

A disappointing and frustrating book filled with confused psychobabble and debatable assertions. The author would have done well to spend more time providing sources and backing up his claims and less time grinding his various axes. Many of his arguments seem to be backed by no more than an unimaginative and sloppy "well, what else could it be?".

2021, Book 3: The Odyssey, Homer (Robert Fagles translation)

Odysseus, man of exploits. "Man of exploits" is a wonderful epithet.

Look, it's the Odyssey. Odysseus gets pushed around by the gods for ten years, then makes it back home where he slaughters a bunch of people. He's less of an ass than Achilles (cf. Iliad).
