2022, book 3: Yakuza Moon, Shoko Tendo

Autobiography of the daughter of a yakuza boss. Lots of domestic abuse and drugs, and a lot of sadness. It feels superficial and light, but is also heartwrenching.

2022, book 2: The spy in Moscow station: a counterspy's hunt for a deadly cold war threat, Eric Haseltine

Clearly an account that makes the NSA look like the good guys written by an NSA insider, but it's Cold War spy stuff, so it's nearly impossible not to be interesting.

2022, book 1: I'd rather be reading: the delights and dilemmas of the reading life, Anne Bogel

I'd rather be reading...something else.

There was no substance here, no humour, nothing of interest. Despite being short, it felt like a slog. It's a real shame, because so many interesting things can be written about one's reading history.
