13: Western Medical Pioneers in Feudal Japan, John Z. Bowers

Interesting look at rangaku. Excellent historic overview. Contains a good bibliography. John Bowers manages to disappoint me with this sentence, though:
Two semesters were devoted to physiology, and pathology was taught for an entire year.

12: Ella Fitzgerald: Seven Decades of Commentary, Leslie Gourse

Pretty much what the title says. Leslie Gourse's commentary irritates me a little, but it's hard to put my finger on why.

11: Prisoners' Inventions, Angelo

Fascinating descriptions of jury-rigged solutions to problems faced by prisoners in United States prisons. Reminded me of Ioanid, of course.

10: Flaws and Fallacies in Statistical Thinking, Stephen K. Campbell

Hey, yeah, another popular stats book.
